  • Creating a Vehicle for Black/African American-Led Community Investments

    In 2018 the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, in collaboration with the Department of Health Services and First 5 LA, launched the African American Infant and Maternal Mortality (AAIMM) Prevention Initiative to address the persistent birth disparities. The LA Partnership became the philanthropic partner to administer AAIMM’s grantmaking vehicle, The Village Fund.

    The Choose Children LA 2020 campaign’s success is indisputable. Acting quickly, the LA Partnership identified and seized the opportunity to educate candidates during a critical election cycle. The LA Partnership was swift to educate funders, raise funds and deploy those funds toward making long-term systems change.

  • Los Angeles County’s Most Robust, Flexible and Response Early Childhood Fund

    In 2011, the LA Partnership created the Baby Futures Fund made up of funders dedicated to equity and racial justice for LA County’s youngest children. Since its launch, the LA Partnership has raised and deployed more than $10 million for the Baby Futures Fund.

  • Billions of Public Programs Dollars at Stake for Young Children

    The U.S. Census is a building block of our democracy and the LA Partnership recognized the urgency of engaging low-income families with young children in the Census. Through the Baby Futures Fund, the Partnership was able to quickly coordinate $1 million and create the year-long Early Childhood Census 2020 Fund (ECCF) — the first time ever funders have come together in the region specifically to target outreach to families with young children.

  • Learning for Action Changes Lives

    From its earliest days, the LA Partnership saw a need in the early childhood community to connect funders to the issue, to each other, and to the public and community sectors – and to do so around solutions and actions. Over the years, the LA Partnership has continued to address funders’ needs by keeping a finger on the pulse of the early childhood community and connecting them to the latest research and information, experts, each other, and opportunities for investing in a child’s earliest years. Attendees leave the LA Partnership’s meetings inspired that they have the ability to remediate many of LA County’s issues by helping children at the earliest stages of life.
